11D SWITZERLAND + GLACIER 3000 + Zermatt & Gornergrat

Welcome to Zurich. Upon arrival, we shall travel to the stately capital of Swiss Confederation, Bern – a charming town with arcade shops, carved fountains and towers. Our orientation tour of Bern start at the Bear pit of Bern where it was said that Bern was founded. We continue to the Old town of Bern which was built on a narrow hill surrounded on three sides by the river Aare, its compact layout has remained essentially unchanged since its construction during the 12^th to the 15^th century. The Old City is also home to Switzerland’s tallest cathedral as well as other churches, bridges and a large collection of Renaissance fountains. In addition to many historical buildings, the Einstein House and the House of Parliament are also situated in the Old City. Next, we travel to Broc for our next highlight for today – a visit to a chocolate factory. Discover the process of chocolate manufacturing and the odours that come from it in the famous Maison Cailler (Nestlé) chocolate factory. Thereafter, we take you into the heart of the senses with an exhibition on fragrances and tastes. You will discover the secrets of cheesemaking according to ancestral tradition.

Then, we continue to Lausanne and a photostop will be made at the elegant, yet modern and famous Olympic Museum.

After breakfast, we shall travel to Geneva where we see the World Health Organization, International Committee of the Red Cross and the International Labour Organization located by the shores of Lake Geneve. Next, is the United Nations Peace Palace, the colourful Flower Clock, the Jetd’Eau Fountain soaring over 400-feet into the air. Thereafter, we continue our coach journey to Chexbres where it is famous for its Vineyard and Wine. Driving along the distinctive stretch of steeply sloping land of the lower mountains and along the shore of Lake Geneva between Lausanne and Montreux, Lauvaux terraced wine vineyards is the largest in Switzerland, so unique it has been named as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Upon arrival, we shall have a wine tasting session in Chexbres. Therafter, we shall travel to Montreux – Switzerland’s modern resort city on Lake Geneva, beloved by locals and tourists alike for its vibrancy and scenic lakeside splendour.

Here, we visit the most beautiful historical medieval fortress in Switzerland – the Chillon Castle which is located on a rock on the banks of Lake Geneva! Thereafter, we travel to Vevey to have a photo stop at the Statue of Charlie Chaplin before we settle down for our dinner.

After breakfast, we shall travel to Montreux and board the Panoramic train on 2^nd class riding through the Alps in the GoldenPass Line to arrive in Gstaad. Here, we ascend by cable car to Glacier 3000. Enjoy activities like the Gondola ride to 3000m, 360○ Panorama view, Peak Walk, Ice Express, Glacier Walk and you may even try sledging at the Fun Park.  Thereafter, we shall continue our journey to Brig for our overnight stay.

(Should Glacier 3000 be closed for maintainance or due to adverse weather conditions, we  reserve the right to replace with other program).

After breakfast we journey to the municipality of Tasch and board the rack rail to Zermatt in Tasch for our excursion to Zermatt – the famous resort town at the base of Matterhorn, Switzerland’s icon and one of the most distinctive mountains in the world with its pyramidal shape. Here, we shall take the cogwheel train to Mount Gornergrat where you get to have an amazing view of the Matterhorn and the Monte Rosa massif. If you are lucky, you may catch the reflection of the Matterhorn in Lake Riffel which can be seen in good weather conditions. Thereafter, some free time at your own leisure at this car free zone town before we board on the rail and travel down to Tasch as we continue with our coach drive back to Brig for our dinner and overnight stay.

After breakfast, we continue our coach journey and travel to picture-postcard Interlaken – a Bernese Oberland resort beautifully situated between two sparkling lakes and beneath the towering Jungfrau. Upon arrival, free at your own leisure.

Today, free at your own leisure. You may simply relax and embark on a scenic feast of snow-capped peaks, rushing torrents and sunlit alpine meadows bright with flowers!

This morning, we shall drive to Lucerne. An orientation tour here includes a photo stop at the Lion Monument – a masterful stone sculpture in honour of the heroic

Swiss Guards of Louis XVI during the French Revolution. Next, visit the renovated 14^th Century covered wooden Chapel Bridge which depicts the local history. Then to the Old Town where you will have the chance to visit and buy from Bucherer – Switzerland’s biggest and most reputable watch company.

After breakfast, we shall depart by coach to Zurich. Arrive Zurich and is free time at your own leisure in the Old Town for some photo taking. You may stop by Bahnhofstrasse for some last minute souvenir shopping.

After breakfast, we shall transfer to Zurich International airport for your departure flight back home to Singapore.
