Your vacation begins with a pleasant flight to Istanbul, the only city built on two continents:- Asia and Europe.
Upon arrival, continue to the next flight to Cappadocia. visit Underground City of Kaymakli, once a place of refuge for 15,000 Christians, witness their ancient bedrooms, church, meeting hall and food storage rooms all within this eight-storey city connected by 30km of corridors and passageways. Next, do not miss this rare opportunity to experience the beauty and work of local hand-made crafts through a Turkish carpet weaving course. Thereafter, make a visit to the fascinating frescoed rock churches and chapels at Goreme Open-Air Museum, to explore the unusual troglodyte dwellings, remains of the early churches comprising of complicated rooms hollowed out of the cones of volcanic ash and decorated with scratched frescoes. Photo-stops will be made at Uchisar “castle” village, a fantasyland of strange and wonderful works of man and nature. Then, proceed to their local Cave House and Avanos Pottery Village, set on the banks of the Kizilimak (Red River). After dinner, a fascinating Belly Dancing and Folkdance performances awaits you.
Today, visit the museum of 13th century Philosopher Melvana Celaleddin-i Rumi, which used to be the cloister for Mevlevi Dervishes. Mevlana was a philosopher and mystic of Islam, but not a Muslim of the orthodox type. His doctrine advocates unlimited tolerance, positive reasoning, goodness, charity and awareness through love. To him and to his disciples all religious are more or less truth. Looking with the same eye on Muslim, Jew and Christian alike, his peaceful and tolerant teaching has appealed to men of all sects and creeds.
After breakfast, we shall start our Pamukkale tour(Cotton Castle), visit the extensive ruins of Hierapolis & Necropolis – known for its thermal baths and health centre. Thereafter, see “Cotton Castle” or Pamukkale’s magical and unique terraces & castles created by deposits of white limestone from thermal springs. Next, transfer to Kusadasi. Visit the House of Virgin Mary, where she is believed to have spent her last years. Next, we set off for Selcuk and explore Ephesus ancient city, one of the world’s most outstanding archaeological sites. Walk in its well-preserved marble streets to the Library of Celsius, the Odeon, Grand Theatre, Temple of Hadrian, Roman Bath etc.
After breakfast at the hotel, drive to the ancient roman city of Pergamon, famous for the steepest theatre in Turkey, Trajan Temple, Atena Temple, Agora and Pergamon Palace. Thereafter, transfer to the ancient city of Troy and the infamous tourist attraction in Troy, of course, is the Trojan Horse. This is a replica wooden horse that was given to the Trojans by the Greek Army. Overnight at Canakkale.
This morning, visit Hippodrome (Sultanahmet Square) decorated by obelisks and monument brought in from Egypt. Visit Blue Mosque (Sultan Ahmet 1 Mosque) is the masterwork of Otoman Turkish architecture. Visit the magnificent St. Sofia Museum, which has been a cathedral under Roman Constantine and a mosque under the Turks. Visit Topkapi Palace – a museum palace filled with wide collections of porcelains, treasuries, religious collections. It is the first Great Imperial Palace of Ottoman Dynasty.
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for our flight to Cyprus. Welcome to Cyprus and the delightful city of Limassol! Upon arrival, discover the city of Limassol on our sightseeing today. Our tour will begin at the medieval Castle of Kolossi and the ancient Kingdom of Kourion.
Day tour to the Karpass Peninsula. The drive to the far eastern end of North Cyprus will traverse some exquisitely tranquil scenery where only sheep, goats and a solitary shepherd move in the landscape. During the tour, visits will be made to Iskele to visit the church and icon museum of the Panayia Theotokos, a beautifully decorated church with wall paintings dating from the 13th and 15th centuries. In the village of Sipahi, close to Yeni Erenkoy is the site of a Byzantine basilica where there is a beautifully preserved mosaic floor. Further on below the village of Dipkarpaz on the northern coastline is the site of Ayios Philon, here there is an opus sectile floor dating from the 5th C and the ruins of the later church erected in the 12th C. Built close to the old Roman harbour, it is only a short walk to investigate the remaining harbour moles and see where the iron ties clamped the cut stones together.
After breakfast at the hotel, begin your tour by visiting the Venetian Walls, the Cathedral of St. John, the Byzantine Museum at the Archbishop’s Palace, and the Cyprus Archaeological Museum, with a fascinating collection of Cypriot antiquities and art treasures from the Neolithic Age to the Byzantine Period.
